Liz Bucheit and Michael Seiler of Crown Trout Jewelers are international award winning jewelry designers and goldsmiths with over 45 years combined experience in custom jewelry design, repair and class instruction. Crown Trout Jewelers prizes include placing in the 2002 World Council’s Gold Virtuosi Italian Jewelry Design Competition and First Place in the Bridal Category of the 2012 Women’s Jewelry Association’s “Dazzle Diva” competition in New York City, NY. Michael and Liz have been featured on PBS’s “Venture North ” and most recently KSMQ’s “Off 90”.
Liz Bucheit creates jewelry and body adornment inspired by Scandinavian folklore and myth. A goldsmith for over 30 years, she holds a Master’s degree in metalworking and jewelry from the University of Iowa, Iowa City and has trained in traditional jewelry and metalworking techniques in Ireland and Norway. Liz has won numerous competitions and has been awarded grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board, McKnight Foundation, Sons of Norway and the SE Minnesota Arts Council. She has exhibited in museums and cultural centers and her bridal tiaras and wedding jewelry are in many collections. Liz is an active speaker on the topic of Norwegian filigree work and conducts workshops and classes in jewelry design and fabrication.
Michael Seiler is a goldsmith and jewelry designer in Lanesboro, MN and has been working in the metal arts since 1995 mastering the techniques of fabrication, stone setting, wax carving, stone cutting and stone inlay work. He has worked with many prominent industry designers as well as teaching metal working classes at Minnetonka Center for the Arts and the North House Folk School in Grand Marais, MN. Michael has received grants from the McKnight Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts Board. His goals are to create new and innovative techniques in stone setting and ring design combining lapidary and metal work. His goals are to bring the imagination of his original poetry into a solid form that can be touched, held and worn.
